Mainframe Engineer

Location: Fort Knox, KY

Sienna Systems is hiring a Mainframe Engineer in Fort Knox, KY!

As a Mainframe Engineer, you will provide technical support for Mainframe engineering and administration, system upgrades, incident response, service degradations, outages, and other service interruptions relating to the Mainframe environment. Mainframe Engineer will investigate hardware and software problems related to the Mainframe infrastructure and perform corrective actions.

Responsibilities:

· Architects, designs, and documents mirrored Mainframe services, which support the Government’s objectives for system provisioning, utility, functions, COOP capabilities, and protection of hosted data

· Makes recommendations for components and upgrades that are needed to modernize the Mainframe environment over time

· Receives, installs, sustains all components needed to fully provision two mirrored Mainframe systems located at geographically dispersed Data Centers

· Supports and sustains mission specific software products and operating systems running in the Mainframe environment

· Performs senior system administration tasks including configuring local and remote storage; partitioning; starting and stopping services; configuring and sustaining file systems; shell scripting; setting kernel run-time parameters; configuring network services such as file sharing, web, Secure Shell (SSH), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), and/or Secure FTP (SFTP); and managing user accounts and roles on Mainframe systems

· Perform all Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) hardening and configurations for all STIGs that apply to the system. Lead STIG assessments to ensure the system is hardened to the required level.

· Creates high availability clusters, manage logical volumes and snapshots, configure enterprise management systems, and deploy and manage Enterprise Systems in a scalable, efficient manner; build and release updates and configuration changes using a central package manager toolset; and create version control repositories.

· Creates organizations, users, and roles in the system/patch management system; and manages software channels and errata

· Supports software products and operating system upgrades and deployments

· Uses standard system tools to analyze and improve the performance of enterprise systems and applications running on the Mainframe for specific workloads and performance parameters

· Creates, maintains, extends ESB services to Mainframe-hosted applications, develops enterprise integration patterns to route, mediate, and transform messages and other information flows between Mainframe services and hosted applications

· Designs and implements directory services and authentication for enterprise environments and configures Mainframe systems to use directory services and network authentication services

· Creates and updates container images and links to containers as well as automate the management and deployment of systems in an enterprise environment

· Implements monitoring to further enable management of application systems running on the Mainframe as well as deploy updates and patches for both Government and commercial software; detect, isolate, troubleshoot, and resolve Mainframe issues

· Executes break-fix actions on failed applications, print jobs, and batch jobs

· Implement and support the testing of Disaster Recovery (DR) for all systems and COOP operations of those enterprise systems as designated; and support the DR/COOP testing of the Mainframe system every 90 days

· Plans, executes, and documents Mainframe baseline configuration specification changes (hardware, software, operating system, etc.)

· Performs other tasks as required by BME and the Government contracting team

Required Qualifications/Education and Experience

· Must have a valid CompTIA Security+ CE

· Must have a minimum of 10 or more years of mainframe System Engineer background in design, analysis, and coding: COBOL (CICS), JCL, CICS, CA7 etc.

· Must have hands-on IT technical background & mainframe systems programming experience

· Experience in all components of software delivery with concentration in requirements, design, and development.

· Experience troubleshooting and resolving incidents with government mainframes

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working in a global environment

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Performs system programming support tasks like systems support, security reviews, and maintenance tasks

· Experience with mainframe testing

· Must have and maintain Secret Security Clearance or higher

· Familiarity with SMPE (ZOSMF/Chorus), Broadcom mainframe software products (CA1,CA7, Dispatch, Common Services, Sysview, OPS MVS)
